NID, NIFT and IIT being one of the oldest and most premiere colleges in the country which offer about 1000 odd seats to aspiring students every year. This number is minuscule in comparison to the number of students applying for these colleges. They offer undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes in the field of Design.
Hence, a lot of aspiring designers just end up in a situation where they are forced to drop another year for the preparation of the entrance exam which is without any surety of getting through next year also. A lot of students nowadays don’t want to drop a year for these exams. It just creates high levels of frustration and anxiety.
The design-centric cities of the country like Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Pune offer some great Design colleges for aspiring candidates, who didn’t manage to get through NID/NIFT or UCEED.
To start with Delhi, capital of the country, offers immense opportunity in terms of Design education and practice. Why these colleges???
- They provide great opportunity to gain necessary practical training and exposure.
- Regional colleges provide students with opportunity to learn.
- They focus on individual development in terms of skills.
- They provide flexibility of choice of courses.
Comparatively easier to get through. Not because of quality of education but due to a simple fact that there are a lot of private institutes near every city, which leads to competition among students on a local and regional rather than on a national level.
