National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is being conducted by COA since 2006, in terms of the provisions of CoA. By appearing for NATA one can apply for admissions in architecture seats in institutions spread across the country and can avoid appearing in multiple aptitude tests.
NATA will be conducted as a one-day online examination all over the country, which will comprise of two parts:
Part A comprises of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) to be answered online and Part B is paper-based drawing. The actual admissions shall be carried out only by the concerned competent authorities of the respective states/institutions based on the NATA score. The 2018 NATA score will be valid only for this year i.e. 2018-19 and cannot be carried next year.
Qualifying in NATA-2018 does not constitute a right/guarantee in favor of the candidate for his/her admission to any architecture course unless he/she has fulfilled all the prescribed requirements as specified by respective counseling and admission authorities in 2018.
Once the student gets a valid NATA score out of 200 and 10+2 marks in %age, he/she now needs to apply to various universities and colleges individually.
Ideally, all universities consider an average of 1/4th of NATA score (out of 200) + 1/2 of XII %age. After calculating this score, a merit list is created depending upon the number of seats and candidates. This list is unique for every university depending upon the ranking of the university. The NATA score is as important as the XIIth result since both have weightage.
